Detail Realism Assignment

Van Eyk was famous for his detail that looked realistic. Your assignment is to choose a detail of a certain subject and render it to appear realistic. Can you draw a fly on a piece of paper to appear like a real fly? Can you draw a book of matches to appear realistic? Keep in mind that shadows play an important role in making an object appear to have a 3D effect. Draw at least four detail drawings in your sketchbook to appear realistic.
